I am getting tired of Instapaper because of the syncing issues and scheduled downtimes. So I decided recently to look for some alternatives to store my articles. Not that Instapaper doesn't do the job but I love trying new services and apps continually.
So well, I retried Readability. I had given it a spin a year ago but had chosen Instapaper then. Now I look at Readability again and I have to say, it looks gorgeous! Everything from the app icons, the text-parsing on the web and even the choice of fonts (Sentinel on the mobile app is divine). The web experience is much better compared to the one Instapaper provides. One of the other key difference I find (a refreshing one at that) is that the readers' network on Readability is much more diverse and varied in context and content. This wasn't always the case with Instapaper since the network of readers was pretty much uni-dimensional.
Also, the apps are free and so is the service itself. Choice of fonts on the app is amazing as well. It also provides tagging for your articles while saving them. Plus the third-party app support to save articles is as good as Instapaper's.
Honestly, Readability is like a breath of fresh air. I will see how this change works. Of course, the new Instapaper team is bound to bring some new features that I will prefer to wait out on.
